jo⁺ is Joseph Setton.

I’m a multi-disciplinary designer and strategic thinker focusing on digital product design and branding, I bring a truly wholistic approach to every project

My obsessive curiosity pushes me to constantly refine my process and inform my work. I'm passionate about solving problems with empathy and awareness to context.

As principal of studio +plusign, I’ve been involved with companies that ranged from seed stage startups to some of the worlds most recognizable brands. I've worked alongside Google's current director of user experience Cordell Ratzlaff to rethink online investing for New York based startup Kapitall and helped create award winning work to engage students and teachers for the Council for Economic Education.

I've held positions at boutique agency Malbon Farms, where I headed branding and digital projects for Scion (Toyota Motors) and Boost Mobile (Sprint) and at Swiss agency Buro Creative where I worked on a branding and identity system for MSC, the world’s second largest shipping company. I also art directed cult underground publication Frank151 collaborating on issues with Lenny Kravitz, the Marley Family and actor/skateboarder Jason Lee.

I’m a voracious collector of music and cultural artifacts, have toured internationally as a DJ and co-hosted a radio show on New York’s WKCR 89.9fm. I co-founded O+Media, a record label that explored the relationship between contemporary urban music and more traditional folk genres. I partnered with artist and designer ROSTARR on the Dilletante Guerrilla Society, a clothing brand that was distributed in stores like Alife, Union and Colette. My long time obsession with athletic footwear also led me to work on “Just for Kicks”, the first documentary about Sneakers and their place in culture.

I grew up in Paris, France and Geneva, Switzerland where I developed an appreciation for chocolate and grid based design systems.
